Annual Nantucket Christmas Stroll Weekend

Cape Cod for the Holidays

What’s up on Cape Cod on the holidays? A lot – including  the always exciting Annual Christmas Stroll Weekend on Nantucket.

A New England Holiday Tradition

The Nantucket Christmas Stroll is a holiday tradition that attracts visitors from around the world.

Now one of the original Christmas Strolls, Nantucket’s was started in 1973 as a way to encourage locals to do their holiday shopping on the island of Nantucket as a way to stimulate the local economy. Back in the ’70s, the event was known as the ‘Nantucket Shoppers Stroll.’ Stores would remain open late, and shoppers would literally “stroll” from shop to shop, giving people a chance to socialize with friends and, of course, buy their holiday gifts.

What To Expect

Christmas Stroll begins when Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive to Nantucket via a Coast Guard vessel and parade up Main Street accompanied by the Town Crier. Kids then have the opportunity to meet with Santa and encounter the Magical Talking Tree! Visitors can also see and listen to Victorian carolers, bell ringers, and other musicians on Main Street.

The Nantucket Christmas Stroll is the perfect weekend to get in the holiday spirit and enjoy Cape Cod’s cozy shops and restaurants.
