Oddly enough, because of its position on the bay – facing west – Herring Cove is one of the few places on the east and north sides of Cape Cod where you can watch the sunset over the water. It’s also an ideal spot for watching dolphins, whales, and seal because they often pass through the area on their way to feed in the bay or to head back out into the Atlantic.

The bike trail that winds through Cape Cod National Seashore’s Provincelands takes you right up to the parking lot at Herring Cove. From there you can leave your bike and have a swim or stroll on the beach.
